Breaking News is a response to the overwhelming violence against women. As I was driving home one summer afternoon, I drove past a gathering of people that had come together for the anniversary of Vanessa Guillen‘s death. This not only made me angry, but led me to realize how so many times the Breaking News reports of women that have gone missing often end in murder. And that so many times, these news outlets hardly ever report on missing Indigenous Women, or women of color. This piece was made in the summer of 2021, and unfortunately all found footage was that of news stories that had aired throughout the first six months of 2021.
